About Japan Edamame

Edamame is usually harvested during summer. Nutritional, rich and flavorful and loved by children to adults.

In this recipe we use organic edamame from Akita, Japan, freshly picked, shelled and processed on the same day to guarantee freshness and flavor.

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS

  • Japanese uncooked rice, 2 cups
  • Japanese edamame (frozen shelled), 300g
  • Water, 2 cups
  • Salt, 2/3 tsp
  • Mirin or Sake, 1 tbsp (optional)

COOKING METHOD

  1. Wash the rice thoroughly in cold water, drain and leave in strainer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Put the washed rice into the rice cooker, add the water and salt. If you prefer, you may add mirin or sake for added flavor.
  3. a. The amount of water added varies according to the type/ brand of rice you use.
    b. If you use Thai rice, you may adjust the water according to your taste and preference
  4. Add the shelled edamame.
  5. Start the cooking
  6. Ready to be served.
